For the non-initiated : A Missionary of Africa candidate declares his intention to continue his formation towards becoming a full member of the Society of the Missionaries of Africa first during the Spiritual Year (otherwise known as Noviciate), that is during his fourth year of training. He does it again after one year of “stage” (apostolic practical training in a context of Mission).
