at the age of 82 years, of which 57 years of missionary life
in Uganda, Chad, Burkina Faso and Belgium.

Stepstones of Father Gaby Claerhout’s life
Gaby was born on July 19, 1935 in Pittem, in the diocese of Bruges (Belgium). He entered the spiritual year of the Missionaries of Africa in Varsenare on September 7, 1956. He then pursued his theological studies in Eastview, Canada, where he took his missionary oath on June 18, 1960 and was ordained a priest on January 28, 1961.
