Session on the protection of minors and of persons in situations of vulnerability for the Central Africa Province-PAC (Bujumbura- Burundi, February 15-26, 2025)
Tuesday, February 25, 2025
On Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at the invitation of the province, Fr. Lowrent Kamwaza, Coordinator for Integrity in Ministry, conducted a full-day workshop on safeguarding minors with 15 stagiaires of the Central Africa Province (PAC) at Foyer de Charity, Bujumbura. The stagiaires are gathered in the Burundian capital for their annual retreat and meetings.
The workshop aimed to induct young seminarians into safeguarding minors, an integral part of the Missionaries of Africa’s mission, a life they aspire to embrace through their Missionary Oath. The Coordinator for Integrity in Ministry-CIM emphasized the critical role of stagiaires in fostering safe environments, particularly for the most vulnerable, within their pastoral communities. They were reminded of the various forms of abuse in their mission contexts and the responsibility to exercise their entrusted authority with humility for the good of those they serve.
The day was enriched by the Eucharistic celebration, where the Gospel of Mark (9:30-37) highlighted Jesus’ call to welcome little children, affirming that whoever welcomes them also welcomes the Father who sent Him.
Safeguarding is our commitment
