Working Session on Safeguarding of Minors for Confreres in the SAP Posted on 09/06/2025 by Vitus Danaa AboboFollow-Up Working Session on Safeguarding of Minors for Confreres in the Southern Africa Province-SAP (Lusaka- Zambia, June 13-30, 2025)In the Society’s continued efforts to foster safe environments, especially for children and vulnerable persons, the General Council of the Missionaries of Africa, through the Coordinator for Integrity in Ministry, reaffirms its commitment to safeguarding (SP, Art. 4).This initiative echoes the enduring legacy and vision of our founder, Cardinal Charles Lavigerie, whose bicentenary we celebrate this year, and his unwavering commitment to defending the dignity of every human being, particularly the most vulnerable.In line with this vision, a second follow-up training programme on safeguarding will be held in Lusaka, Zambia, from June 13 to 30, 2025. This session will focus on updating the safeguarding guidelines and codes of conduct for the SAP Province and is intended for the confreres of the Province.This effort demonstrates the General Council’s firm resolve to build a safer and more accountable Church.
