The Africa Europe Faith and Justice Network (AEFJN)
Introduction to AEFJN
The Africa Europe Faith and Justice Network (AEFJN) is an international faith-based network established in 1988. Responding to Pope John Paul II’s call for religious involvement in global decision-making, AEFJN promotes economic justice and sustainable development in Africa. It unites over 50 religious congregations and organizations from Africa and Europe to advocate for policies that ensure that marginalized voices are heard.
Vision and Mission
AEFJN envisions a world where justice, peace and the integrity of creation are upheld in Africa-Europe relations. Our mission is to advocate for just economic policies that respect human dignity and promote sustainable development. We focus on trade justice, natural resource management, and corporate accountability.
Key Areas of Work
- Trade Justice: advocating for fair trade agreements that benefit African economies and protect workers’ and farmers’ rights.
- Natural Resource Management: promoting responsible use of Africa’s natural resources to prevent exploitation and ensure local communities benefit.
- Corporate Accountability: monitoring multinational corporations in Africa, campaigning for ethical practices and human rights protection.
- Advocacy and Awareness: engaging with the EU and international bodies to influence policies and raise public awareness on economic justice and sustainable development.
Our Approach
AEFJN integrates research, advocacy, and grassroots mobilization, collaborating with our antennas, civil society and faith communities to amplify the voices of those most affected by injustice. Our work is rooted in Catholic Social Teaching and a commitment to solidarity, justice, and the common good.
