on Tuesday January 15th, 2019, at Bruges (Belgium)
at the age of 92 years, of which 67 years of missionary life
in Rwanda, DR Congo and in Belgium.

The main stages of Father Antoon Vanden Avenne’s life
Antoon was born on May 12, 1926 in Iseghem, in the diocese of Bruges, Belgium. He entered the novitiate of the White Fathers in Varsenare on September 22, 1947, after which he continued his theological training in Heverlee, Belgium, where he took his missionary oath on July 21, 1951 and was ordained a priest on April 12, 1952.
