Be all things to all people
According to the precept of Saint Paul, they were to be all things to all men to win souls for Jesus Christ. They would gradually adopt the attire, the language, food and customs of the local population of Africa to win their trust and affection.

Be kind-hearted
You must never imitate those who mistreat or abuse their weakness. You will have respect and charity for them inspired by faith. You will offer ‘God’s hospitality’, as they say themselves, to all those who are ill, a place of refuge for little orphans and to all the proof that by your words and actions you love them as brothers.
