Herman Bastijns
on Thursday 9th August 2018 at Varsenare (Belgium)
at the age of 82 years, of which 58 years of missionary life
in Burkina Faso, DR Congo and Belgium.

Milestones in Father Herman Bastijns’ life
Herman Bastijns was born on 13 January 1936 in Hasselt, but was part of the diocese of Mechelen-Brussels when he entered the novitiate (Spiritual Year) of the Missionaries of Africa in Varsenare on 7 September 1956. After the novitiate, Herman continued his theological studies at Heverlee where he took his missionary oath on 2 July 1960 and was ordained priest on 2 February 1961.
