who has entered into Eternal LIFE at LILLE Porte de Gand
on the 19th of March 2017
at the age of 89 years, of which 65 of Religious Missionary Life.
Her missionary life was in Algeria, Burundi, Rwanda and in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

New Provincial EAP

After consultation of the confreres appointed to and coming from the Section of the Province of Eastern Africa (EAP), after a deliberative vote of the General Council and after having obtained his agreement, the Superior General, Fr. Stanley Lubungo, has appointed Fr. Aloysius SSEKAMATTE as Provincial Superior of EAP for a first mandate from 01st July 2017 till 30th June 2020.

As we congratulate our confrere John MacWilliam, newly appointed Bishop of Laghouat-Ghardaïa, we equally bless the Lord for the guidance He provided to his predecessor Bishop Claude Rault, M.Afr.

Claude Rault becomes the second confrere bishop whose retirement has been accepted by Pope Francis this year after that of Bishop Francisco J. Silota, M.Afr, Bishop of Chimoio in Mozambique till 2nd January.

Our gratitude to both of them for their many years of committed service to Mission in Africa. God bless them!

A British soldier turned priest who risked his life to rebuild the Church’s presence in Algeria following a spate of attacks against Christians has been appointed by Pope Francis as a bishop in the overwhelmingly Muslim country. Fr John MacWilliam, a 68-year-old “White Father” missionary – technically a Missionary of Africa – was on Thursday named the next leader of the diocese of Laghouat-Ghardaïa, a recognition of the courageous peace building work he has carried out in the region. At the height of violence against Christians by armed Islamic groups in the mid-1990s, on 27 December 1994, four of his confreres running the White Father mission in Tizi-Ouzou were assassinated in their own home, …
