Conference of Sr. Denise Rachel Kambire (in French)

This first conference organized by the Roman Committee as part of the 150th anniversary of the Lavigerie Family was given by Sister Denise Rachel Kambire, Franciscan Missionary of Mary of Burkina Faso. She was a missionary in Congo Brazaville and Congo Kinshasa before taking up residence in Rome where she is researching the founding Mother of her congregation, Sister Mary of the Passion. This research made her discover the interaction that existed between this Breton founder, with a strong character, and another French personality … namely our founder Charles Cardinal Lavigerie. It is of this relationship that Sister Denise Rachel Kambire tells us. Continue reading “Conference of Sr. Denise Rachel Kambire (in French)”

GDPR : another beast

An information / warning from the Provincial Treasurer of PEP:

Greetings from Bruxelles.

Another acronym, another beast!

It stands for: General Data Protection Regulation GDPR. It is a EU Law that will come into force on the 25th of May 2018.

If you do not know it, I suggest that you browse through the Net and that in turn you consult your Legal Advisor to help you understand if and how your organisation can be impacted.

Out of hand here are some areas that need protection:

  1. The data concerning your employees
  2. The data concerning your Benefactors
  3. Sensitive Data such as State of health of persons and their state of fragility
  4. Data having a personal feature: infringement of the law, sentence

Didier Lemaire, Prov Treasurer PEP

If you would like to know more about this, the easy way, though not necessarily the surest is to consult WIKIPEDIA. Otherwise, google it, take a beer (or two) and prepare to read a lot.

What is a coordinator

On a busy street in one of India’s congested cities, traffic has ground to a halt. Frustrations are high as a young man yells at a hapless policeman. A large tree has fallen across the narrow thoroughfare, and nobody knows what to do. Snarled traffic, glum looks, despairing gridlock. A young woman says in English on her cell phone, “I hate this country.” Then the situation gets worse: it begins to rain. Buckets. A young boy, maybe seven or eight, pokes his head out a bus window. […]
