Funeral Service of Father Xavier Biernaux in Goma

Father XAVIER BIERNAUX, who died on 22 July 2021 in Goma, received the last tributes of the diocese of Goma at the Notre Dame d’Afrique parish. Ordained a priest on 25 July 1963, Father XAVIER BIERNAUX, who had made his vow to become a servant of the Lord at the ordination of another priest in Belgium, received on 27 July 2021 the last tributes of the faithful of the diocese of Goma and elsewhere.

The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Bishop Willy Ngumbi, M.Afr. at the parish of Notre Dame d’Afrique. Several concelebrants, including the provincial superior of the Missionaries of Africa, Father Emmanuel Ngona, were present. In the diocese of Goma, Father Xavier Biernaux served from 2005 to 2013. First as curate and then as parish priest, it was in the Archdiocese of Bukavu that he took his first steps as a missionary, until he reached 58 years of mission in the DRC. The mass was broadcast on Radio Maria Bukavu in conjunction with Radio Maria RDC – Goma. Xavier Biernaux now rests in peace in the church cemetery in Buhimba.
